When the opportunity arises to gratify people, neglecting to acknowledge someone is one thing, but when toasting as a groom, uttering the wrong thing is a total catastrophe. In wanting to avert this, I researched several perfect suggestions to keep you from making a humiliating mistake.
Making Your Bride Happy
Bringing up prior relationships is definitely something you do not want to do. While it may appear as a given, trust me when I state that some grooms will do it! No matter if your intention is to positively favor your new bride, she will not find it appropriate, particularly on her wedding day!
You must be complimentary of the bride in everything you say. You may want to add a small joke, but this is just not the time to do so. In my situation, I kept to that which I was certain my bride would like to hear, and it was a success!
Booze
Regardless of how well-prepared you are for your speech, alcohol is probably public enemy number one. It may take down the best of us, and we could easily let slip the wrong words. I was very cautious in this regard, deciding to postpone much imbibing until after the speech. Am I’m really happy that I did!
Several Additional Wedding Toast Tips
The thought of the groom’s speech was stressing for me because I failed to plan ahead. And that means that you have less control over what you eventually say. It is fortunate that one can find many sources of assistance on the internet to help make a humorous wedding speech which is offensive to no one.
Finally, take note that regardless of how well you deliver the speech, if you take too long, it will not end well. Try to practice you speech in advance so that it does not drag on for an hour!
